Narrative
SPARTANBURG, SC – A driver died, and four other people went to the hospital after a three-vehicle, head-on crash along the interstate in Spartanburg.
The incident happened on the night of New Year’s Eve along I-85 southbound near mile marker 75, which is between Boiling Springs Road and SC-43.
The investigation thus far indicates that the driver of a northbound pickup truck veered into the southbound lanes of I-85 and crashed head-on into two other vehicles.
Authorities declared the wrong-way driver deceased at the scene. They’ve not yet released his identity to the public.
Medics transported a total of four people from the other two vehicles to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
