Narrative
COLUMBIA, SC – One person died Friday night from injuries sustained in a solo crash on the interstate in west-central Richland County.
The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on I-77 near Hardscrabble Road, which is just north of Surge Adventure Park.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound driver of a 2022 Fort F-150 lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a ditch and a tree along the roadway.
Medics transported the driver of the pickup truck to the hospital, where they died from injuries sustained in the accident.
A full investigation is underway.
