Narrative

SIMPSONVILLE, SC – A 34-year-old woman died on Wednesday after colliding head-on with an 18-wheeler along the interstate in Simpsonville.

The incident happened on Interstate 385 near mile marker 32, which is just east of Bethel Elementary School.

Police say that the victim’s southbound sedan had entered the northbound side of I-385. The collision caused both the sedan and the 18-wheeler to catch fire.

Authorities identified the victim as Averi Shantel Rucker.

It is unclear if the truck driver sustained injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
