Narrative
GEORGETOWN CO., SC – One person on a bicycle died Friday night after an SUV struck them along a busy highway near Anderson.
The incident happened around 11:10 p.m. on the eastbound side of US-521 in south Georgetown County.
Police say that, for unknown reasons, an eastbound Infiniti SUV rear-ended a bicycle on the highway. The cyclist died at the scene of the collision.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
The driver of the SUV was not hurt and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
The investigation is ongoing.
