Narrative
CHARLESTON, SC – Two Charleston Police Officers sustained injuries Tuesday in a rear-end crash along the interstate in the East Central area.
The accident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on the westbound side of I-26 between Mount Pleasant Street and the Septima P. Clark Parkway. This is just southwest of Bethany Cemetery and north of the intersection with US-17.
Officials say that 23-year-old Quintero Pedro Trejos was intoxicated when his vehicle struck the rear of a Charleston police cruiser.
Medics transported two officers from the cruiser to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
Trejos was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
A full investigation is underway.
